Does Deline change my bank's description of a payment?

No. A bank line shows the text your bank sent, as it came; Deline only tidies extra spaces. What you write when you record the line is kept separately, so the bank's own words are always there to check.

Where do I see what the bank sent?

  • On the line in Reconcile, the bank text is the line's title. Open the line's details to read all of it.
  • Details from your bank shows what the bank adds when it has it: Name, Account (IBAN), Company or tax code and Card category.

What are the hints for, then?

They help you choose, and they never change the line. A card category says, for example, "Your bank calls this: … . That is usually an expense.", and "It is only a hint. Nothing changes until you press Record." When matching invoices, "The bank text is a clue, not proof of who paid, so nothing is matched until you choose."

What do I see after recording?

The books line carries the kind you chose, such as a bank fee, followed by the bank's text. The bank line itself stays unchanged.
