A bank line was matched to the wrong invoice. How do I fix it?

Unmatch the line, then match it to the right one. Unmatching frees both sides to be matched again; the accepted record is kept and nothing is posted. If the line was recorded as a payment, you undo that recording, which posts the exact opposite entry.

Only the match is wrong

Press Unmatch on the line, write the Reason for unmatching and press Confirm unmatch. Deline says "Unmatched. The lines are free to match again." Then match the line to the right invoice.

If the statement is already reconciled, undo the reconciliation first (see How do I undo a reconciliation?).

The payment was recorded on the wrong invoice

Press Undo on the recorded line. Deline asks Undo this recording? and explains: "The books post the exact opposite entry on the same date. The original stays in the history, so nothing is deleted." Press Undo and reverse. The bank line goes back to the lines not in your books yet, ready to record on the right invoice.

Does Deline decide the matches?

Deline suggests matches and puts the likely candidates first, but a match counts only once you accept it.

If something goes wrong

  • "These lines were already unmatched. The list is now up to date.": someone else unmatched them already.
  • "The books kept this match: a locked period or a recorded reconciliation still relies on it. …": undo the reconciliation or reopen the period first.
