Are my documents kept as safely as my entries?

Yes. Files you attach to bills and to your opening balances are checked for viruses when you add them and then stay with the record. The documents behind your opening balances cannot be changed or removed: "Files added here are kept for 7 years and cannot be changed or removed."

What protects a file?

  • Each file is checked for viruses before it is kept.
  • A posted entry is never edited or deleted; it is reversed with a new entry, so the file stays with the original record.
  • Every change is in the activity history, with who did it and when.

Can I get all my documents out?

Yes. The business download contains every record. Save your own copy before you close a business: "You remain responsible for keeping tax and legal records, typically for at least 7 years."

If something goes wrong

  • The file was refused: it did not pass the virus check, or it is not a PDF, PNG or JPEG.
