Why does an owner need to approve my invoice first?

Your business has switched on Require owner approval before issuing invoices. Then every draft needs an owner's approval of its exact version before anyone can issue it. Until then Deline says "An owner needs to approve this version first."

How does the review work?

  • On the draft, press Request owner review. The draft shows Waiting for owner review.
  • The owner checks it and presses Approve version …, or Request changes.
  • After approval the draft shows Approved for this version and can be issued.

Why does it say "Review is out of date"?

The draft was changed after the review. Changing a draft means it needs to be reviewed again, so the owner approves the new version. Deline asks the owner to look again at the invoice details, the exchange rate and the attached documents.

Who decides whether approval is needed?

Only an owner, in Settings → Approvals under Invoice approvals. An accountant is not required. Changing the setting makes earlier reviews of existing drafts stale; issued invoices stay unchanged.
