The most common messages
- "This invoice adds up to zero, so it can't be issued yet. Add an amount to a line, then issue it. Your draft is saved.": every line is zero. A zero invoice can stay a draft.
- "Your business name, address and country need to be filled in before invoices can be issued. An owner can add them in Settings → Business. Your draft is saved.": your business details are incomplete.
- "A line's tax isn't one of your saved tax rates. Open the draft, choose the rate from the line's tax list, then issue again. Your draft is saved.": a line uses a rate you have not saved.
- "An owner needs to approve this version first.": your business uses approvals. An owner approves the draft first.
- "This draft uses an older tax calculation. Open it, save it again, then issue it.": save the draft once more.
Messages that ask you to try again
- "This draft changed in another window. Reload it, then try again.": press Reload invoice and check the latest version.
- "Other invoices are being issued right now. Try again in a moment."
- "We couldn't create the invoice PDF right now, so nothing was issued. Your draft is saved. Please try again a little later."
- "We couldn't confirm the invoice was issued. Try again — it won't be issued twice."
Country rules
Some refusals come from your country's tax rules: a missing NIF in Spain, a Cyprus VAT number or VIES check, or a Ukrainian place-of-supply rate. Each message names the detail to add. In Spain, Deline is bookkeeping only for now: it does not issue Spanish invoices until VeriFactu is ready. You can keep drafts and record invoices issued in your invoicing software.
What about my plan?
Issuing needs an active plan. If the plan needs attention, the owner sees "Open billing to update your existing subscription." with an Open billing button. Other members see that the owner can choose or restore a plan.
Can I issue it anyway and fix it later?
No. An issued invoice cannot be edited or deleted. If you issue one with a mistake, you correct it with a credit note.
