Why are there small rounding differences in my figures?

Your books keep every amount to the cent and never round on their own. A small difference usually comes from a tax form that asks for whole euros or whole hryvnias, where each form rounds in its own way. Deline shows the cent amounts beside the rounded ones so you can see why.

Where does rounding happen?

  • Cyprus VAT 4: boxes 1 to 5 in euro and cents, boxes 6 to 11B in whole euro.
  • Cyprus VIES and VAT 4 side by side: when they differ only because of rounding, Deline marks it Rounding only: "VIES rounds each customer line to whole euro and VAT 4 rounds the total once".
  • Ukrainian ПДВ declaration: rows in whole hryvnias, as entered on the declaration.

And on invoices and credit notes?

Invoices and quotes use the same rounding rules. A credit note follows the invoice it corrects: "Discounts, tax and rounding follow the issued invoice." So a full credit note cancels the invoice exactly, to the cent.

Does a rounding difference mean my books are wrong?

No. If a balance is off by more than rounding, look for a missing or doubled entry instead. See Why is a payment counted twice, and how do I stop it?
